Job Title: Sr Solr / Database Developer

Summary

Are you an experienced developer with a background in Solr development and administration? Frontier Communications is looking for a talented software engineer to support our Solr environment in both the administration and development.

 

Essential Job Functions:
  • Requirements: Work closely with the Product Owner, technical and Business Analysts, for understanding the system’s functional and non-functional requirements
  • Design: participate in the technical design discussions for new features and optimizations within the Solr ecosystems.
  • Development: Modify Solr schemas, support ETL processes from numerous sources, database development in Microsoft SQL, build APIs to support the business and technology partners. Optimize the Solr configuration to improve performance.
  • Support: investigate, troubleshoot, and implement fixes and optimizations for defects and issues found with monitoring.
Required Skills and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Sciences or a combination of verifiable work experience and certifications in development.
  • Must be able to demonstrate ability to build complete end-to-end solutions from the ground-up during technical interview
  • 5+ years’ experience developing using relational and non-relational databases.
  • 3+ years’ experience with Solr development and administration
  • 3+ years’ experience performing analysis on data for accuracy and correctness
Required Skills and Experience
  • Databases: Solr (Filters, Query Parsers, Performance Tuning, Group, Faceted Search), Elasticsearch, Microsoft SQL
  • Development Languages: C#, JavaScript
  • Performance Test Tools: JMeter or similar
  • Code Repositories: Git, TFS
  • Build system: Jenkins, TFS
  • Strong Team player - pair programming (including cross discipline QA & HTML), strong collaboration & team ownership.
  • Accountable & Dependable - do whatever is needed to complete tasks, stories and sprints on time. Follow through every time.
Desired Skills and Experience
  • Experience with a continuous integration environment.
  • Hands-on experience delivering high-scale service-oriented architecture architecting including, but not limited to, SOAP and/or REST web services with strong preference for Rest API experience.
  • Proficiency with C# .Net 4.6, .Net Core 1 or 2.x
  • Must be a self-starter, needing little direction and capable of working in a fast-paced development environment
  • Production implementation experience in Information retrieval theory, (i.e. Apache Lucene/Solr/Elastic Search)
  • Experience with Redis
  • Experience in an agile and scrum environment, working in cross functioning teams and writing and estimating user stories.

  • Track record of shipping high volume web experiences
